Resene’s Hunger for Colour Appeal a big win for the Salvation Army

For the past six years, the Resene Hunger for Colour Appeal has seen cans swapped at Resene ColorShops for Resene testpots, bolstering The Salvation Army’s foodbanks at just the right time. This year’s appeal was no exception, bringing in over 43,000 cans of food, taking the total amount donated the past six years to a staggering 200,000 cans of food!

Salvation Army Territorial Director of Community Ministries, Jono Bell, is thrilled with the result, noting that food banks are often depleted at the start of each year when many people are trying to put food on the table, plus meeting extra expenses that come with a new school year. “We are blessed that Resene ColorShops, like The Salvation Army, are based all around the country and people are generous in donating to their local foodbanks through this appeal,” he says.

In 2019, The Salvation Army distributed sixty thousand food parcels, and thanks to the 2020 February appeal, Kiwis in need will continue to benefit from this incredible show of community spirit. “The success of the campaign shows the enthusiasm New Zealanders have for helping others struggling to put food on their table, and for colour and DIY projects,” Resene Marketing Manager Karen Warman says.
