Celebrating creatives this International Artist Day

22 Oct 2025

October 25 is International Artist Day, and we’re taking a look at some of the artists we have featured in the last year. Art can take many forms, and we’ve had the privilege of showcasing a diverse range of skills, from painters to sculptors and designers. We’ve seen bold Resene colour, intricate details and unique mediums. These artists have inspired us with their creativity and passion. Join us as we celebrate their work and the impact art has on our world!

ArtFull Studio – Ladan

Ladan's artistry is a beautiful blend of personal expression, texture and timeless materials. With over 12 years of experience in interior design, painting and sculpture, she brings a modern twist to traditional techniques, particularly through her expertise in plaster art and patina finishes. In her works, you can find a dynamic play of texture, colour, and form, each designed to transform a space and tell a unique story. Read more about Ladan and her work here.

This striking Moon and Tree art, designed by Ladan from Artfull Studio, adds a unique 3D feature and focal point to this space. For this design, Ladan used a mix of Resene Quarter Thorndon Cream, Resene Thorndon Cream, Resene Triple Thorndon Cream, Resene White, Resene Quarter Grey Chateau, Resene Mountain Mist and Resene Shuttle Grey.

Arts Eleven – Melanie Caple

There’s something undeniably magical about transforming an otherwise bland public space into a vibrant, storytelling canvas. That’s exactly what Melbourne-based artist Melanie Caple does, and when you walk past her artworks they make you want to stop and take in every detail. Check out one of her incredible murals here.

This seagull is part of Melanie’s 17-metre-long artwork which stretches across the corridor in Vicinity Bayside Centre in Frankston. It is painted in a mix of Resene Essential Cream, Resene Negroni, Resene Halcyon, Resene Refresh, Resene Tacao, Resene New York Pink, Resene Havoc, Resene Ruck N Maul and Resene Harvest Gold.

Greta Cole

It’s easy to get lost in Greta Cole’s paintings. The wistful seascape scenes and contrast of colours with Resene’s blues, greens and odd touch of gold leave you captivated. Greta has always enjoyed painting and drawing right from an early age, and art naturally became her best subject while at school. Living in the Tasman District, there is an abundance of inspiration from the natural environment and stunning coastline. Check out more of Greta’s thoughtful seascapes here.

Greta’s painting, titled High Tide, offers feelings of tranquility and calm. This piece is painted in Resene Bunting, Resene Jaguar, Resene Half Sea Fog and Resene Indian Ink.

Glen Turner

Tucked away in Christchurch’s creative hub, The Lobe, Glen Turner brings sustainable artistry to life using Resene paints and wallpapers in unexpected ways. A self-taught artist with a knack for reimagining the discarded, Glen works with recycled materials – particularly timber salvaged from post-earthquake demolitions and family home renovations. His art tells stories of renewal, weaving history into dynamic, visually striking pieces. See more of this work here.

Looking carefully at this piece shows the details and skills that go into Glen’s work. The various textures and shapes create one-of-a-kind artwork and feature Resene Possessed, Resene Jurassic, Resene Woodsmoke, Resene Mangrove, Resene Marshland, Resene Field Day, Resene Half Rivergum and Resene Blackjack. There are also subtle hints of texture through Resene Wallpaper Collection 25746.

Cap Jacobs

Cap Jacobs is a New Zealand-based artist whose work stands out for its precision, vibrant energy and minimalist yet complex style. Specialising in abstract paintings, Cap’s pieces feature sharp lines, bold shapes and unblended Resene colours that evoke a sense of positivity. His artworks are often described as “happy paintings,” a fitting testament to their bright and uplifting qualities. See more of Cap’s work here.

Aptly named ‘Still of the Night’, this piece by Cap Jacobs is painted in Resene Resolution Blue, Resene Gold Dust metallic and Resene Black.
