We’ve got a great roundup of projects from our readers this month. From a rainbow fence to colourful bedrooms and even vanishing wall art, you’re sure to find some inspiration here! Remember we love to see your finished projects, so please email us some photos and the Resene colours and/or Resene wallpapers you’ve used to [email protected].
Rebekah gave her children a DIY voucher for Christmas last year to get their bedroom painted. Her youngest son requested “something that goes well with my tiger picture.” As the smallest of the three rooms and the only bedroom on the southern side of the house the colours had to bring openness and light to the room, as well as fun.
“At first I was worried that Resent Curious Blue was going to be too dark but it was almost the perfect colour to tie in with the picture, and the majority of the walls are painted this colour,” says Rebekah. “Being a tiger themed room, we of course had to have an orange stripe. We used the Resene Colour Match online to see what oranges were similar to those in the tiger print and Resene Chilean Fire fit the brief perfectly. The doors in our house have panelling so we used the mid-section of the panel to guide the placement of the orange stripe so the bedroom felt cohesive. Result? One happy boy. Now to teach him how to keep it tidy!”
Chloe needed to add some love and colour to her newly purchased first home, so she turned to Resene. “Inspired by our dark timber furniture and soft pink and green bedding, I chose ReseneLog Cabin for the walls, along with Resene Quarter Alabaster for our doors, ceiling and trims,” she says.“It took me a while to find the perfect greenbutResene Log Cabin is just the right shade of olive with not too much blue and just enough yellow to keep her restful – but not too dark. Our room gets lots of light throughout the day, and along with the contrasting white trim, this makes this a gorgeous and restful space to sleep in.”
This homeowner wanted to create a ‘cottage style’ bathroom while still feeling modern. They sourced their ideal vanity from Be Different Timber and painted it in Resene Tsunami, which complements the dark timber on the top. The lower panelled walls are painted in Resene Alabaster and upper wall in Resene Halcyon, a calm crystalline blue.
If you’re wondering how well ReseneSpaceCote Low Sheen performs, this might convince you! With freshly painted walls, this homeowner got a real fright after spotting their child’s colourful artwork display adorning the wall. After panicking (only a little of course), they were advised to use Resene Interior Paintwork Cleaner, and bam, the art is gone! ReseneSpaceCote Low Sheen is ideal for busy family homes and wear and tear areas and is easy to wipe clean.
The ReseneColorShop in Invercargill had a fun visitor. The bird’s name is Teller –which is fitting because it is a very talkative littlecreature! The bird belongs to a local Resene customer, Wayne, also knownas The Magic Guy, who is quite a well-known magician that people can hire for events. He also performs his shows at the A&P shows and other events and festivals. See what The Magic Guy is all about or book him for your next event here.
The Resene umbrellas are almost as colourful as this fence at a Redwood School in Wellington. The fence was built by Bespoke Wooden Solutions and painted by seven students in the shades Resene Poppy, Resene Turbo, Resene Curious Blue, Resene Dizzy Lizzy and Resene Trinidad.
