Create your own abstract art
duration:

If you’re someone who often looks at abstract art and thinks to yourself “I could do that,” this DIY will be right up your alley. Using a colour pairing of Resene Black and Resene Merino, we took our paint brushes to glass to create our very own art piece. Leigh Stockton shows us how.

You will need

  • Frame with two sheets of glass
  • Resene testpots in Resene Black and Resene Merino
  • Testpot brushes

Step 1. Carefully remove both sheets of glass from the frame, using protective gloves or something similar.

Step 2. Taking the first frame, paint your abstract pattern with swishes of Resene Black. Leave to dry.

Step 3. Gently place the second sheet on top of the first (once again, using protective gear), and repeat the pattern over the top, this time painting with Resene Merino. Leave to dry.

Step 4. Place the sheets back into the frame, with the glass painted in Resene Merino on top.

We love the look of two pieces of the art hanging side by side. Have a play to see what suits your home and style best.
