Moroccan-style stencilling
duration: 0:1:41

Bring a piece of Morocco into your home with this easy pattern DIY. We used it to pretty up a vintage cabinet.

You will need:

  • Cabinet that allows you to place plywood at the back
  • Resene testpots in your choice of colours.  We used Resene Alabaster and Resene Half Delta
  • Cake stencil with Moroccan-style pattern
  • Plywood sheet to fit into the back of the cabinet
  • Roller and tray

Step one. Paint the plywood sheet in Resene Alabaster and leave to dry.

Step two. Taking the stencil, place it onto the plywood and gently roll Resene Half Delta over it. Don’t overload the roller, as the paint will seep underneath. Leave to dry.

Step three. Place the plywood at the back of the cabinet, either with wood glue or by drilling in with screws.

Step four. Marvel at your beautiful work and fill the cabinet with your treasures.

Top tip: For a little extra sparkle, use Resene FX Metallic for your topcoat colour. This effect could also work well on display pieces such as bookshelves and on tabletops.
