Bring the look of indoors out with Resene Lumbersider Matt

Starting around ten years ago, designers and homeowners started specifying lower-sheen finishes for interior surfaces as tastes shifted towards a softer, smoother appearance that minimises flaws, reduces glare and results in deeper, cosier colours.

As is often the case, the call then went out for a product that would achieve the same look on exterior surfaces.

Typically, exterior coatings tend to have a ‘glossy’ finish, which enables easier maintenance along with added protection from changeable climatic conditions. However, with their reputation for problem solving, the Resene technical team was unfazed and set about formulating a coating that would provide the durability required with the desired aesthetics.

The result, launched in 2023, is Resene Lumbersider Matt, a waterborne option that builds on the performance of the Lumbersider range, and is designed especially for those after a flatter-style finish on outdoor surfaces.

Designed for exterior walls, weatherboards and landscaping elements, Resene Lumbersider Matt is available in selected colours from the Resene Total Colour System, including BS5252, Multi-Finish, Whites & Neutrals and The Range.

For those after a darker, more contemporary look for their exterior, like the featured home, then the choice is Lumbersider Matt CoolColour – available in selected colours from the Resene Total Colour System.

A Resene CoolColour looks like a normal colour but, thanks to special pigment technology, it reflects more heat so that the surface and substrate doesn’t get as hot as the normal colour.
