Putting the spark back into Auckland’s arena

Since it was opened in 2007, Spark Arena (formerly Vector Arena) averages more than 650,000 visitors a year coming to see concerts, sporting events and shows. All of that foot traffic has taken its toll on the concrete bleachers between the rows of seating, necessitating a refurbishment of the same.

The Challenge

Spark Arena, one of New Zealand’s premier indoor venues, hosts a wide range of high-traffic events including concerts, sporting fixtures, and corporate functions. Over time, the venue’s concrete bleachers had begun to show visible signs of wear due to constant foot traffic and exposure to beverage spills. The existing coating had deteriorated, becoming both unsightly and increasingly difficult to maintain.

The client needed a durable, low-maintenance flooring solution that could withstand high volumes of use while improving the overall appearance of the bleacher areas.

The high-traffic situation had caused the original flooring system to deteriorate. Flowcoat OP was specified for the bleacher refurbishment.

The Solution
