This luxurious lounge sizzles in smouldering Resene Twilight Zone
Can you imagine a better place to enjoy a few celebratory beverages with your closest friends than this alluring lounge that is welcoming yet cocooning, luxurious yet minimalistic, all at the same time? While it may seem contradictory, sticking to a tonal colour palette is the secret to building a deep dark look that’s restrained, sophisticated and anchored in elegance.
The approach of using furnishings that almost blend into the wall colour is also surprisingly versatile. With just a couple of well-designed furniture pieces, you can achieve a more minimalist feel, or pile on some opulent accessories and textiles for a more traditional, plush approach. Complementary tones, such as the coffee table and sideboard in Resene Indian Ink, the vase, tealight holder and bowl in Resene King Tide and the Resene Excalibur tray and pot also add strength and depth to the space, but also prevent it from feeling heavy.
Texture is key too – the batten walls, velvet cushions and ornamental grass all work to break up the density of the deep colour palette. The gold accents in particular work well against the deep navy blues to add a striking touch of glamour; and layering Resene Colorwood Mid Greywash over Resene Colorwood Crowshead on the timber flooring allows the wood grain to show through and adds another layer of texture.
