A visual safari of creativity: Lucinda Penn’s Adelaide mural
04 Apr 2023
Sitting 10 metres high and 16 metres wide, this vibrant mural painted by artist Lucinda Penn uses bright Resene paint colours that embody creativity and logical thinking coming together – the perfect abstract mural for a shared workspace.
Located in Adelaide, the colours and theme capture the essence of the creative hub it homes, Studio Safari. This is an open-plan creative space with a blank canvas for bringing photography, workshops, pop-up shops and more to life on the ground floor, as well as co-working office spaces upstairs and next door for WOTSO Workspace.
With so much creativity happening inside, it was only fit that it should spill out on to the exterior and represent the creatives and visionaries within.
“These contrasting colours come together as an amalgamation of the left and right side of the brain working together, portraying a sense of how thoughts and ideas flow around the brain,” Lucinda says.
“The viewer is transported into a visual safari of collaging tools, objects and plants which aid creativity. There are also a few little eyes hidden in the design as a little safari quest to find them too.”

Lucinda Penn (LCND) is an emerging artist bringing together art and design. Her work spans painting murals, upcycling surplus materials, digital illustrations and everything in between. Inspired by the everyday, positivity and symbolism shine through her energetic colour palettes.
Sharing her art all over South Australia, Lucinda’s painting can also be found at Adelaide Airport. She loves engaging communities with her mural painting workshops and sharing happiness and joy with others. It is her dream to take her work around the world, and her goal next year is to expand out to South Africa.
"It would be amazing if someone sees this and wants me to come paint somewhere," Lucinda says. "I would also love to come to NZ and paint. I went on exchange there in school and am so excited to go back."
Sometimes creativity means getting your hands, and paintbrushes, messy. Resene Smitten was a well-loved choice in Lucinda’s mural.
“All my murals use Resene paints and products, they are just such a dream to work with,” Lucinda says. “Once I tried Resene, I have never gone back to anything else.
“I wear a Resene cap that's covered in paint and I'm always wearing my Resene thermal when painting on freezing cold days. It was raining and cold most of the time when I was painting and I spent my time under a thick rain jacket with lots of layers, so it's really nice to see the photos Kate took which show off the colours of the wall in the sun.”

For the green shades she used Resene Anise, Resene Tree Frog, Resene Crusoe and a custom mix of Resene Happy Hour with a touch of Resene Crusoe for a slightly darker look.
Lucinda’s mural, named 'Creative Safari', is located at 80 Ifould Street, Adelaide if you want to go check it out for yourself, you can’t miss it!
