Day in the life: A Resene ColorShop Manager

This week we speak to Cody Lubach, who tells us all about his role as a Resene store manager at the Resene ColorShop in Newmarket, Auckland. What do you do at Resene?

I manage the day to day running of the Newmarket Resene ColorShop and ensure my team and I uphold Resene's values. This means we always aim serve our trade and retail customers with the highest level of customer service, that Resene is known for.

What does a typical day look like?

One of the great things about Resene is that each day is different. I'm constantly learning and improving my knowledge. I start each day off by completing admin such as processing timesheets and ordering stock. Moving on to serving customers, giving them in-depth paint, wallpaper and accessories advice. I also regularly work alongside our sales team to ensure their clients have the stock they need.

What do you need to be able to do the job?  

The most important characteristic you need to succeed at Resene is a good attitude. Paint and colour knowledge can all be taught, but having a strong work ethic is the first thing I look for in new staff. In my experience the more effort you put into your time with Resene the more you get out of it.

What do you love most about working for Resene?

Being a New Zealand-owned and operated family business creates an environment where you really feel appreciated. Our regional managers make an effort to get to know each of my team members on a personal level, which is something I haven't experienced with previous employers.

I also love working for a company that really cares about our impact on the world and is constantly challenging itself to grow and adapt.
