Fiona’s painted pots are the finishing touch your indoor plants need

05 Aug 2020

With a background in landscape design, you could say that Fiona’s way with plants is in her nature. After she recognised a niche in the market for designer pots with abstract patterns, she started experimenting with Resene paints and her business, Black House Creative, has been blossoming ever since.

Fiona’s designs are instantly recognisable and a visual delight. She’s used the dazzle of Resene Gold Dust metallic paint, the pretty pinky hue of Resene Sorbet, the intense honey sweet yellow of Resene Galliano and the urban grey of Resene Double Concrete with fresh Resene Alabaster as a base for these pot designs.

Current colours in her design rotation include Resene Influential, Resene Havoc, Resene Aviator, Resene Gold Dust, Resene Wafer, Resene Sorbet, Resene Galliano and Resene Sea Green. But she’s constantly trying new hues, guided by the season and popular trends. “With so many different colours to choose from, I get pretty excited about going into the Resene ColorShop to source new colours.”

A pretty little pot in Resene Alabaster and Resene Sorbet is the perfect colour pairing for this soft green plant.

Her colour choices are inspired by the season and current trends, but also by her clients. “I love that a client can send in a pic of a rug or art and we can colour match that to a pot design. I also love how the colours on the pots can also bring out the colours in the plants,” she says.

Fiona’s striking geometric designs with Resene Alabaster and Resene Black make the greenery on the plants pop.

Fiona’s striking pots are suitable for indoor and outdoor use – and unsurprisingly, have been flying out the door. “Hand painted pots are great because they add a point of difference in your home or garden,” she says.
