Jacqui’s pretty petals will brighten the deck

Patios and decks come in all shapes and forms, and Resene’s wide range of exterior paints and stains can really transform even the dullest or smallest of spaces. But homeowner and artist Jacqui has taken her own deck to a whole new summery level by painting nature motifs with colourful Resene paints.

“I have painted on and off for years,” Jacqui says. “I’m self-taught and just absolutely love nature and its many colours. My idea started with one, the large sunflower. I loved the result and just kept going.”

The main reason Jacqui started on her floral painting journey was that her deck needed repainting. But she thought “why not just bring it to life with artwork”. Plus, as she told herself, she can always just paint around or over the designs later if needed – that is the beauty of paint.

“I wanted to reflect my garden and nature onto my deck as a way of creating a beautiful vision for family and visitors to enjoy,” she says. “Artwork shouldn't just be confined to canvas and paper.”

The colours Jacqui used include yellows like Resene Bright Spark and Half Melting Moment, the deep red of Resene Pohutukawa, and gorgeous greens like Resene Forest Green, Bud, Bush and Karaka.
