Let’s celebrate our fellow creatives this International Artist Day!

23 Oct 2024

This Friday 25 October is International Artist Day, and we’re taking a look at some of the artists and creatives we have featured in the last year. Art can take many forms, and we’ve had the privilege of showcasing a diverse range of talent, from painters and sculptors to photographers and designers. Whether it’s through bold Resene colour, intricate detail, or unique mediums, these artists have inspired us with their creativity and passion. Join us as we celebrate their work and the impact art has on our world!

Darcelle Nesser

Darcelle’s deep passions for learning and the world around her, mixed with her creativity, allow her to show others the beauty that our universe has to offer. Her love of Resene colours began a while back when visiting her local Resene ColorShop near George St. What was originally a short trip to buy some paintbrushes and topcoats, soon saw her falling in love with the walls of countless Resene testpots, and the colour swatches. Ever since then, she has explored some of the thousands of shades that can bring her artwork to life.See more of her work here.

Frankie Bakker

Frankie created this window with a view, all creatively done with captivating Resene colours. No longer will guests of this accommodation have to bath in a space with no windows – they can gaze dreamily at this striking view. Frankie’s attention to detail is like no other. Dannika Tukua

Dannika’s art is inspired by her childhood memories, her love for the New Zealand environment, and the truly unique creatures that dwell within it. Her hope is that through inspiring affection for Aotearoa’s beautiful species, it will encourage the desire to protect them.I am a proud Kiwi, and this is reflected in my art,” says Dannika. Its quirky, and original. I hope to make you chuckle, reminisce and celebrate our wonderful culture, because after all – ‘Kia mau ki tetokanganuinoho’ - there is no place like home.See her playground project, and more of Dannika’s work here

Glynn Berland

Glynn Berland is an artist who has carved a unique niche in the world of contemporary art, blending his passion for music and Bauhaus-inspired designs with a commitment to sustainability. By using bold Resene colours and incorporating recycled materials such as old vinyl records and recycled wood, Glynn's work is not only visually striking but also environmentally conscious. Check outhis amazing work here

Catherine Roberts

Born in Manchester, England, and now residing in Wellington, Catherine’s artistic journey has been marked by a commitment to exploring the serendipitous nature of painting. Her work is characterised by an intuitive dialogue between artist and canvas, with no set intentions, but with the aim of captivating the viewer and continuing the conversation. Engaging with form and contrast to create works where rich and vibrant colours preside within abstract utopias, Catherine approaches each painting with an acceptance of serendipity, allowing areas of paint to move unhindered and colours to compose themselves. Take a look at her last series of work here, and see more of her work online
