The habitat team’s favourite Resene shades

29 Mar 2023

Whether we are painting, recommending or writing about them, the habitat team know a thing or two about Resene paint colours. With thousands of stunning shades, it is hard to choose a favourite, but we have asked the team to narrow down their most loved shades to share with you. We’ve included some tips on where to use them and complementary shades, so you can try these top picks for yourself.

Resene Spanish Green

Our Writer and Content Producer Jess’ favourite shade is Resene Spanish Green. This is such a classic green – gentle and not too harsh or bright. Its calm nature allows it to work well in any room and is best paired with whites and neutrals like Resene Orchid White and Resene Half Rice Cake.

Resene Carpe Noctem

Project Co-ordinator for our photoshoot team, Sarah Beedell, says her favourite shade is Resene Carpe Noctem. She loves this colour for its super dark and moody blue qualities, and the depth it provides in the right light. This dark shade allows other colours to really pop! Try it with accented furnishings or décor in shades like , Resene Yogi, Resene Springtime or Resene Duck Egg Blue.

Resene Emerge

Our Content Director LauraGrace is a lover of all green Resene shades, but her favourite is Resene Emerge, which she is using in her new home. “I love how calm it makes me feel when I walk into my family room, and it mirrors my kitchen connecting the open plan space,” LauraGrace says. Showing its true beauty next to whites like Resene Alabaster, you can also pair this shade with a grey green like Resene Innocence for a feature wall, or a more greyed-out white like Resene White Thunder.

Resene Green Smoke

Green is an ever popular shade with its soothing and tranquil properties. Account Service Lead, Christian Robertson’s favourite colour is Resene Green Smoke, a calming shade that works well in bathrooms and laundries. For complementary colours try a lighter green, Resene Half Chill Out, or a classic neutral like Resene Black White

Resene Duck Egg Blue

Throw from Citta.

Our Digital Producer, Emma Napper, has a popular colour as her favourite, Resene Duck Egg Blue. This pale shell blue, crystalline and calm, reflects the winter skies over the Baltic Sea. If you’ve never seen it in person, you’re missing out! This subtle blue-grey colour works well in any room, but particularly well in bedrooms and bathrooms, places known for their relaxation. Pair this shade with colours like Resene Jurassic, Resene Abbey Road, and timeless neutrals like Resene Alabaster

Resene Bastille

habitat Content Producer and Editor, Katrina Hobbs, says her favourite dark colour is Resene Bastille. The depth and drama of this deep grey, blue with a hint of violet hits all the right notes for Katrina. Resene Bastille works well for a dark room, giving the space a rich, cosy atmosphere and is best paired with a warm beige like Resene Half Sour Dough, or a subtle shell white like Resene Umber White.
