Create LeeAnn’s summery boho setting

Create a relaxing corner with a retro vibe, with dusky purple tones and shots of copper. Whether you call it hippy chic, modern boho, or retro 70s, this look takes the casual appeal of those styles and gives it a sophisticated twist.

We’ve started with Resene Renaissance – a dusky mellow grape tone – for the walls. Purple, black and gold are traditionally quite glamorous, regal colours but by choosing different versions of them, you can take the look from hi-end to casual cool.

Pallets can be creatively re-used as pieces of furniture. We’ve used an up-cycled wooden pallet painted in Resene Blackout and added some chunky castors to turned it into a coffee table. The floor is also in Resene Blackout and our yellow basket is Resene Teddy.

We’ve used this shutter as a handy hanging space. And instead of gold, we’ve chosen the metallic paint, Resene Copper Fire. Warm-toned metallics like brass and copper are very on-trend, and suit this room, with its slightly eclectic global look. The wooden hanger is finished in Resene Adrenalin.

It’s okay to use some shots of hot or bright colour in a setting like this but make sure you don’t overdo it, or the scheme will lose its cohesion. We’ve used a bold golden yellow as our main accent, painting the big floor basket in Resene Teddy.

Resene Copper Fire is used again on this glass vase – just tip a testpot of the colour into the vase and swirl it around to gain a good coverage of paint.
