Get the best from bronzy browns
Nutty, leathery, rich and smooth – there’s something about bronzy and terracotta browns that warm the soul. These are the colours of cosiness - feel-good tones that speak of autumn and winter.
They’re also the colour of cinnamon and nutmeg – the spices of Easter. They can carry a hit of ginger to gain a deep gold undertone, or an edge of pumpkin to turn them into delicious burnt deep orange. Yum.
Go all out and paint your walls in one of the yummy bronzy browns from Resene, or add them as accents. If you already have biscuit brown, pale grey or off-white walls, bronzy browns are the perfect pick-me-up. Throw in some khaki greens for a true on-trend look.
Other schemes that work:
Resene Entourage: Cool it down with grey-greens like Resene Templestone and grey-edged whites like Resene Titania.
Resene On Track: Keep it toasty and tonal with muted beiges like Resene Quarter Tea and burnt sienna browns like Resene Scoria.

Don’t just limit yourself to one rich terracotta brown. This tonal scheme uses three of them for an ultra-rich and cosy bedroom – Resene Cumin on the back wall, Resene Toast on the right-hand wall and Resene Gold Coast on the floor.

Use rich terracotta browns as an accent to add warm and drama to an otherwise neutral scheme. Here, an anaglypta wallpaper (RD3360, from Resene ColorShops) has been painted in Resene Albescent White, and is the perfect textural backdrop for a sideboard in Resene Desperado and a peg stool in Resene Entourage. The floor is painted in Resene Double Biscotti, the tall vase is in Resene Calibre and the smaller vase is in Resene On Track.

This brown is actually called bronze - Resene Bronze. It's teamed with Resene Triple Wheatfield on the top of the wall, and has a simple sponge stencil. The large pot is in Resene Wood Bark.

For a tropical outdoor look, you can afford to go bold. This bronzy brown, Resene Rumour Has It, is more of a deep burnt orange so would also suit a desert or Mediterranean feel. Here, it's teamed with a table painted in Resene Sambuca and stools painted in Resene Aloha (back), Resene Malarkey (right) and Resene Celebrate (left and front). The low basket is in Resene Ruby Tuesday and the good cover is in Resene Celebrate. The deck is stained in Resene Waterborne Woodsman Banjul.
