Kim chose to paint the living room in Resene Prelude to deliberately contrast the turquoise sofa from Freedom Furniture. Her clear love of interesting textiles and textures lends the space a worldly vibe. Doors and window trims in Resene Spanish White.

The master bedroom showcases Kim’s love of prints and her ability to expertly mix pattern, colour and texture. The walls are painted in Resene Eastern Blue, which gives the bedroom a restful and relaxing feel. The upcycled chest of drawers painted in Resene Blackcurrant adds to Kim’s eclectic style. Kim says the guest bedrooms are still a work in progress. The walls are painted in Resene Sugar Loaf and poppy colours are still a big feature via textiles. The walls are ceiling in the second guest bedroom are painted in calming Resene Rice Cake, allowing the colourful entryway painted in Resene Citron to take centre stage. Architraves in Resene Spanish White.

Layers of print and pattern create interest, texture and fun to the substantial dining space. The room’s warm timber elements are offset by the punchy teal tones of Resene Surfie Green on the walls. Ceiling in Resene Alabaster, trims in Resene Spanish White.

Kim loves looking through the doorway of one vibrantly coloured room and into the next. She says seeing Resene Surfie Green in the dining room and Resene Citron in the entrance way gives her great joy. “I find myself doing that often and I get a good feeling from it. Kim chose to paint the south facing kitchen Resene Nocturnal giving the traditional farmhouse space a contemporary style. Jewel tones makes further appearances through stained glass, kitchenware and appliances. Trims in Resene Spanish White and ceiling in Resene Alabaster.

Resene Nocturnal also appears on the upper walls in the bathroom in sharp contrast to a clawfoot tub in Kim’s signature shade: turquoise. Along with window trims and tongue-and-groove panelling on the lower section of the wall in Resene Spanish White and a mix of natural timber hues, the combination has a distinctly modern farmhouse feel. 

The exterior colour scheme remains sympathetic to the home’s original era. The elegant and refined palette of Resene Spanish White weatherboards and Resene Spanish Green doors and trims doesn’t divulge what surprises are to be found beyond the threshold.
