- Using dark shades of jewel tones, such as Resene Atlas, Resene Zinzan and Resene Avenger used here, makes the room feel both luxurious and cosy. All you need is a crackling fire, and you're ready to curl up with a good book and glass of wine.
- With a flat wall such as this one, texture has been created through colour blocking. Megan has sliced it into three, a clear delineation between green – Resene Atlas – and the pleasing blue-purple combo of Resene Zinzan and Resene Avenger.
- The overblown floral print is echoed in the real life bouquet with matching flowers, bringing another burst of brighter colour into the living room. The print is actually wallpaper – Eijffinger Masterpiece 358000 available from Resene ColorShops. It's simply cut to size and wrapped around a canvas (available from art shops), ready to hang.
- Texture has also been introduced through accessories, from the wire birdcage to the rich velvet armchair. It's also been subtly introduced through a crackle effect on the coffee table, created using Resene Crackle effect. Click here to read more about this wondrous product.
- It's interesting to see how Megan has introduced different sorts of metals to this living room, instead of sticking to just one – gold on the armchair, a brass birdcage, and silver candlesticks. It looks natural and elegant; using a mix of collected treasured gives a feeling of 'home' rather than showroom.
- Further cementing the luxe feel is the floor painted in Resene Colorwood Greywash. Natural grains in the wood come alive with the smoky colour, and give oomph to the overall look.
