Remember spin art? Well, art teacher Tamzin Blair not only remembers it but has spearheaded a community mural in Brown Bay, Auckland, using Resene paint and spin art applied to old LPs. Tamzin made her own spin machine when teaching at a kindergarten and so far 200 locals, from pre-schoolers to rest home residents, have done records for the wall with another 100 to be put up. Resene helped Tamzin find a smooth surface sealer to coat the LPs with first, then the company also sponsored the wall. Says Tamzin: “The Resene paint has been amazing! It is so bright and the colours are so strong - perfect for this project.” Tamzin also runs a gallery called The Spin Gallery where people can spin big canvases and get splattered in paint in the process.
