Bird in the hand

We’re always finding clever people using Resene products in creative ways. Artist and sculptor Di Conway has been using Resene stains and paints to finish her stoneware sculptures for many years, which she makes in her Seatoun studio in Wellington. This particular piece, called Bird in the Hand, is finished with a Resene Dark Rimu from the Resene Colorwood stain range that has been diluted with Resene Weathershield. She also achieves a weathered bronze finish, experimenting with Resene Summit Roof Paint, layering it then wiping it back. Di is best known for her playful ‘fat lady’ sculptures and is an elected artist and council member of the New Zealand Academy of Fine Arts.
