The Block NZ recap: Be our guest

24 Aug 2017

With only a few more weeks to go, Three’s The Block NZ teams had to dig deep to complete the guest bedroom and bathroom. Feature walls proved popular, as well as bold use of colour... but which space was crowned the best in the eyes of the judges?

Ling & Zing

The judges were pleased with the effort that the lads put in this week in their guest bedroom, and thought they'd done a great job with the feature wall. Their main quibble would be that the desk was too high... but overall they thought the execution was great, and the design was fun and creative.

Andy & Nate

Andy and Nate won the reveal this week, with their well-coordinated, well thought out space.

The judges liked the fantastic use of colour on the wall and the ceiling, as well as the boys' attention to detail... including the down-lights coloured green to match the paint feature on the ceiling.

They also liked that Andy and Nate had created a private guest suite, with a little fridge and some appliances that can be shut away, plus loads of storage.

Julia & Ali

The judges were happy to see some colour in Julia and Ali's room, on both the wall and duvet cover. And the light boxes were a real winner – they're cute, creative and gave the room some impact.

The judges also liked their choice of colour on the feature wall behind the bed, even if they had seen it before in this house. The finishing lines were a bit of a miss though and will need some attention.

Stace & Yanita

The judges' first impression of Stace and Yanita's room was that it was a well-coordinated and harmonious colour scheme. They also liked the way the wardrobe had been moved into the hall space, giving the bedroom extra width. The colours and the furnishings give the room a really nice feel to it.

Overall, the judges said this was a great room but suffered badly from poor finishing... the standard should be a lot higher at this stage of the competition. Aside from that though, the concept was really strong.
