Community spirit

Aspire is an innovative year-long youth development programme run by The Salvation Army to strengthen vulnerable young people and their families. Recently, Resene donated paint to the Mt Roskill Aspire Youth Development Programme, which was used to produce a mural to represent the uniqueness and strengths of the community.

The vibrant mural – proudly on display at The Salvation Army's Royal Oak Community Centre in Auckland – was designed and painted over a few weeks by a group of 11 to 14-year-olds. They drew inspiration from their different cultures, love of sport and music, the importance of family and local heroes.

Last year, more than 500 young people participated in Aspire programmes around New Zealand thanks to funding from The Warehouse Group and their suppliers. It's a free programme, and is led by experienced Salvation Army youth workers. If you'd like to find out more about the programme, visit www.salvationarmy.org.nz.
