A dreary to dreamy master bedroom

05 Oct 2017

Last night on HOMEmade, the team headed to Sarah and Peter’s home, a 1957 weatherboard bungalow still in its original state and filled with their personal bright artwork and funky furniture – they were ready for a change. Melissa and team decided to give the couple a sanctuary of a master bedroom, with fresh paint, new furniture, light fittings, drapes and some much-needed storage.

Before: With an outdated colour scheme and original wallpaper, Sarah and Paul's master bedroom was in need of a makeover by the HOMEmade team.

After: To achieve this fresh look, the team removed the existing wallpaper, painted the walls and ceiling in Resene Black White, and hung tropical wallpaper from the Resene Wallpaper Collection (design AT7068, available from Resene ColorShops) as a mural behind the bed. The team also installed new furniture, light fittings, drapes and some much-needed storage.

The HOMEmade team also revamped the front garden. Keeping with the home’s era, Dan incorporated a retro seal water feature and Cape Cod chairs into the makeover to give the front yard and patio area a mid-century modern vibe.

Sarah and Peter are keen organic gardeners and vegans so Dan used only certified organic Tui garden products, including Tui Organic Compost, Tui Organic Vegetable Mix and Tui Organic General Fertiliser, when planting vegetables and herbs around the new pavers and water feature.
