Elmer’s Elephant Trail: Colourful art with a good cause

23 Nov 2023

The colourful art trail is back! This wonderful elephant spotting adventure is based on the beloved children’s book by David McKee, Elmer the Patchwork Elephant, which promotes positive messages of kindness, friendship and compassion.

“We are incredibly excited to bring David McKee’s much-loved elephant character, Elmer the Patchwork Elephant to life in what will be the most colourful art trail yet,” says Kathryn Jones, CEO of Laura Fergusson Brain Injury Trust. “We have 30 large elephants, individually designed by professional and emerging artists, that will be displayed through the streets, parks and public spaces of Christchurch and the surrounding towns from November 25, 2023, to February 18, 2024.”

“Elmer’s Ōtautahi Elephant Trail will be supported by a learning programme enabling thousands of children and young people to participate in this highly visible, family-friendly art trail. Ultimately the sculptures will be auctioned to raise money to enable the Laura Fergusson Brain Injury Trust to support people impacted by traumatic brain and other complex injuries throughout Canterbury.”

Don’t miss out on joining in on this elephant art safari running from 25 November 2023 – 18 February 2024 in Ōtautahi.

Stay tuned for updates on the amazing artists involved!
