Find your bliss in Blenheim: Win a brand-new home in the Heart Foundation Lottery
02 Oct 2024
Considered one of the most pleasant climates in New Zealand, Blenheim is an ideal year-round destination. The Heart Foundation has chosen this location to build their first-prize Jennian home for Lottery No. 151, painted in stunning Resene hues, giving you the chance to live in this superb region.
“Blenheim often claims the title of New Zealand’s sunniest town, which makes it a perfect spot for a Heart Foundation Lottery home,” says Liz Halpin, Lottery Operations Manager. “It has a lively and inviting community, with regular community events that showcase the region’s finest produce.”
The charming living room is painted in Resene Rice Cake, with ceiling and trims in Resene Quarter Rice Cake.
This three-bedroom, fully furnished home has delightful views of the mountains in Mount Richmond Forest Park. It has a spacious kitchen, living and dining area, designed to reflect the gorgeous greenery surrounding the town. There is also plenty of outdoor space to enjoy on this large corner section, with a built-in irrigation system to keep your garden fresh and bright.
The colour and furnishing design was led by Terri Laurenson from Jennian Homes Marlborough. Here is what she had to say about the project:
What was your design brief?
To create a modern home with traditional touches, inspired by the English theme of the prestigious Rose Manor subdivision.
A classic white dining room will allow the lucky new homeowners to add their own colourful touch through personal décor.
What colours did you choose?
I chose a tonal colour scheme of neutral greens and whites. The interior wall colour is painted in Resene Rice Cake with ceiling and trims in Resene Quarter Rice Cake, a yellow-green based white which provides a warm base. The primary bedroom colour, Resene Triple Ash, creates a calming space, paired with textured tonal bedding. One of the bedrooms is painted in Resene Wafer, a dusky pink for a subtle pop of colour. Externally, I have paired Resene Sea Fog and Resene Triple Tapa with FlaxPod for a fresh look that complements the landscaping.
The master bedroom is painted in Resene Triple Ash, with ceiling and trims in Resene Quarter Rice Cake and complementary toned furnishings.
The dusty pink of Resene Wafer in the second bedroom brings warmth and comfort to the space. Ceiling and trims are painted in Resene Quarter Rice Cake.
What was the biggest challenge for this project?
My biggest challenge was sourcing furniture with the intention to create a balanced look between traditional and contemporary, while staying within budget!
What was your favourite aspect of the design?
My favourite aspect of the design was selecting both the interior and exterior colour scheme and bringing these colours together to achieve a cohesive design. The transitional style, which blends modern elements with traditional touches gave me a lot of freedom to create a unique and inviting space.
The exterior is painted in Resene Sea Fog and Resene Triple Tapa, an earthy inspired combo that blends with the natural surroundings and the roof in FlaxPod.
In partnership with its major sponsor, Jennian Homes, the Heart Foundation Lottery offers the life-changing first prize of a fully furnished home seven times each year. Lottery homes are built in lifestyle destinations throughout New Zealand and finished in Resene paints and stains.
