Get crafty this weekend and enter the Resene Upcycling Awards

31 Mar 2021

It’s time to venture into the depths of your shed and transform your old toys, décor, or furniture into works of art. The Resene Upcycling Awards are back for the fourth year running and are encouraging Kiwis to give their preloved items an extreme makeover for some great prizes.

Transform a plain concrete planter into an antique style planter using Resene FX Faux Rust Effect. The home colour in the background is Resene Triple Ash with trim in Resene Quarter Thorndon Cream.

Upcycling can be anything from transforming a chest of drawers into a tiered plant stand, to creating a coffee table out of wooden crates. The Resene Upcycling Awards are giving away four fabulous prizes worth $500 that include a $200 Resene voucher and a $300 Prezzy® card. There are two categories to choose from; the Repurposed Upcycled item or the Redecorated Upcycled item.

2020 entrant Edith from Mount Albert created this colourful bird out of plastic kinves, forks and spoons.

To read more about the competition and to enter, visit the Resene Upcycling Awards page. This is a great way to spend time with the family over the school holidays and create something amazing. Remember to list any Resene paints you use and take before and after photos.

Lee from Levin transformed her old drawers into a vibrant tiered planter for her 2020 entry. For a similar effect, use Resene Golden Glow and Resene Buttercup to create a cheery furniture feature.
