July’s joyful hue and how to use it at home

08 Jul 2025

Color Marketing Group (CMG) have announced the latest hue that expresses the month of July and it’s the perfect sunny shade to brighten up these wintry days. We’ve got just the designs to show you how to incorporate it into your home with Resene paints and wallpapers.

Uplift: Joyous and sunny

As the Beatles sang, “Here comes the sun, doo doo doo doo, here comes the sun and I say, It’s all right.”

This energising, pale slice of yellow is perfectly realised with the name, Uplift. It is the colour equivalent of an antidote. It banishes negativity, darkness and the doldrums with an upbeat aura.

Uplift adds a mood lifting warmth to practically all spaces it embraces. Consider using it in your home on smaller accessories like vases, plant pots, table legs or lampshades alongside white or black hues to really make it pop. It also looks lovely with pinks and greens which can evoke a sense of summer in a meadow – you could even try painting your own artwork!

For a cosy look try using this hue in a Resene SpaceCote low sheen finish, but for full on power, and a bit of glam, use Uplift in high-powered, high-gloss Resene Enamacryl or Resene Super Gloss. The reflectivity of the sheen means the colour bursts onto the scene. No matter the finish, Uplift performs its colour duty for a bit of fun and joy.

Here are two ideas for this colour trend using Resene Wallpaper Collection SUM003 and Resene Mellow Yellow to give you a head start on using this hue:

Find Uplift in this sunny design, Resene Wallpaper Collection SUM003, which is paired with nature inspired motifs in earthy browns and greens. Stain wooden furniture using Resene Colorwood to ground your space and paint window frames with Resene All Black for a crisp contrast.

This is a bright and happy hue, ideal for a nursery, powder room or just added on accessories or smaller elements for a unique accent. The floor is painted in Resene Mellow Yellow, walls in Resene Chenin, two-door cabinet in Resene Double Spanish White, low dish in Resene Gin Fizz, artwork frame is in Resene Blank Canvas, tall vase with large handles in Resene Laser and tall vase with ribbed bottom in Resene Stinger. Try other hues in similar colourways like Resene Corn Field, Resene Half Moonbeam, Resene Shalimar and Resene Pale Prim:

Top tip: A little yellow goes a long way.  Yellow tends to intensify the more walls you use it on.  If you’re new to using yellow, start by using it on key feature areas or accessories teamed with off-white.
