New Zealand Geographic unveils winning photographs

20 Dec 2017

Congratulations to the winners of the 2017 New Zealand Geographic Photographer of the Year contest. Each year New Zealand Geographic calls on photographers to submit their best pictures that celebrate people and nature. This year didn’t disappoint, with photographs that truly show off the beauty of this world.

Pictured above is Joanne Ottey’s photograph of a small female jumping spider, as it rests on a rock – the shot earned Joanne the Resene Colour Award.

The Resene Landscape winner was Takashi Tsuneizumi, whose photograph of Milford Sound early in the morning captured the ghostlines of Fiordland’s waterfalls.

All of the winning photographs for the 2017 Photographer of the Year are now on exhibit at the Auckland Museum, until 25 February 2018.
