Our First Home: finish line in sight

07 Apr 2016

With less than two weeks away from auction night for the Our First Home families, it's been great to see the homes come alive with finishing touches and more room reveals.

Here's what the teams got up to this week.

Team Pearce

With the interior of the home completely finished, the Pearce family headed outdoors to install a new porch in a natural finish. The weatherboards are painted in misty Resene Half Atmosphere, and the door and trims in Resene Alabaster, adding to the coastal breezy look of the home.

Team Roughan

The was no rest for Team Roughan this week, who committed to completing both the kitchen and master bedroom. It was a feat worth fighting for, though, as judges decided the family had added most value for the week. They've earned themselves Carla, the resident chippie, to help them finish their home before auction night.

First up was the kitchen, painted in Resene White Pointer, which is right on trend with big pendant lighting, a scullery and bamboo bench top.

They also tackled the upstairs mezzanine space, turning it into a "sensational" master bedroom, complete with walk-in wardrobe, triangular windows and shutters connecting it to the downstairs area. The walls are painted in Resene Half White Pointer and Resene Half Regent Grey (feature wall).

Team Wotton

Working late nights and being meticulous with details paid off for Team Wotton, with the experts finding absolutely no fault or room for improvement for their finished main bathroom.

The family painted the ceiling and window frames in Resene Alabaster, which complement the hidden laundry, white-tiled walls and recycled bathtub.
