The place to be for street art and fun

29 Sep 2016

Dunedin continues to make a name as a street art destination, and with the Vogel Street Party next week, as a place to have fun.

A growing number of top international and local urban artists have created more than 30 pieces of street art, many of them huge in scale up and across the sides of buildings. It began with a mural of a giant tuatara painted on the side of a coffee shop by visiting Belgian graffiti artist ROA more than two years ago. The collection now includes subjects and art of all styles. Resene helps out with paint supply for the art.

A trust coordinates the works, liaising with artists and building owners. Last year, wall art was created during the Vogel Street Party, a community event now in its third year. This year’s event is on October 8, at the Warehouse Precinct.
