Ready for a sneak peak of House Rules week two?

The second week of House Rules 2023 has aired, and if you're a fan of remarkable transformations, this is the series to watch! However, it comes with its fair share of challenges for the teams and some design decisions that might leave you curious. All the participating teams have access to the complete Resene colour palette and wallpaper range, giving them ample opportunities to opt for vivid and vibrant, subtle and soothing, or anything in between – as long as they follow the house rules!

Martinique & Andre’s House Rules:

1. Revitalise our 1940s cottage with timber accents and pops of natural colour.
2. Give the boys a nature themed bedroom with rich green tones.
3. Include clever and generous storage everywhere!
4. Give us a totally WOW splash-proof bathroom.
5. Cool, classic and calm. Not basic.

Take a look at the results:

The warm, inviting kitchen is painted in Resene Gold Coast, with Resene FX Chalkboard Paint on the kitchen island and Resene Half Rice Cake on the ceiling.

A hue of sand and stone, Resene Eighth Akaroa was used throughout the living room on the walls and ceiling with Resene Rice Cake on trims.

For the master bedroom, this team stuck to the house rules and used an earthy green neutral, Resene Linen, for the walls. The ceiling is painted in Resene Quarter Linen and trims in Resene Alabaster.

Another house rule ticked off, a fresh earthy green for the kids’ room, Resene Half Rivergum, was used on the walls, with a fun tropical wallpaper in the cubby, Resene Wallpaper Collection 91101. The ceiling is painted in Resene Eighth Akaroa.

In the third bedroom, this team chose two wallpapers instead of opting for a paint. Resene Wallpaper Collection 37986-9, a dark blue, was chosen for the main feature wall, while Resene Wallpaper Collection 25731, a subtle textured neutral pattern, was chosen for surrounding walls. The ceiling and trims are painted in Resene Quarter Thorndon Cream.

For this welcoming entryway, Resene Rice Cake was chosen for the walls, doors and trims, with a feature wall in Resene Frontier. The ceiling is painted in Resene Half Rice Cake.

This stunning bathroom uses neutral toned décor and luxurious fittings to create an inviting retreat. The ceiling is painted in Resene Half Rice Cake.

You’ll have to watch to see why the teams chose their designs, and see them deliver their zones for judging, as well as homeowners Martinique and Andre view their transformed home for the first time. What will their reaction be? 

House Rules NZ streams first on ThreeNow with episodes uploaded at 12pm each day. 

It then airs on Three - three times a week; Sundays 7pm, and Mondays and Tuesdays at 7:30pm.
