Rick recycles with a twist

Rick Rubens takes old pieces (sometime found through dumpster diving) and gives them a second life, turning what once was disused into stunning pieces of furniture and accessories.

One of his latest designs are these bookends, using Resene paint and offcuts of MDF. To create the look, Rick used five colours from the Resene FX Metallic range, with Resene Lumbersider tinted to Resene Fahrenheit for the base coat. He then created an aged look with Resene Blackboard Paint, hammered in some decorative nails and finished it with a soft wax.
