Sea Walls a success... again

17 May 2017

Napier now has 53 unique ocean environmentally-themed murals, thanks to another successful Sea Walls event in late March this year. In its second year, Sea Walls: Artists for Oceans added stunning murals to last year's designs, in an event run by the PangeaSeed Foundation, in partnership with the Napier City Council and Alternative Arts Initiative. Each design is aimed to inspire and educate the community to become better stewards of our seas; 26 internationally renowned mural artists took part in the event as well as volunteers and project partners, including Resene. This year’s Sea Walls festival included opportunities for families and children to participate with a scavenger hunt, a pop-up classroom, public talks and beach clean-ups. There were also film screenings, artist panel discussions, and an art exhibition showcasing original works by participating artists.
