A spirited summer

12 Mar 2014

Aucklanders may have noticed a series of events and a public arts programme held down at Queens Wharf this summer. Organised by mover and shaker Cleo Barnett and sponsored by Resene, there have been outdoor jazz concerts, mini art and music festivals, live art, workshops, exhibitions and more. Part of the action was Art Box, a 40-foot shipping container converted into an exhibition space that hosts a rotating exhibition. The mural on the outside was painted in Resene paints by street artist due BMD of New Plymouth for an exhibition called Everybody Has A Spirit Animal, which showcased 20 artists from around the world, each painting an image inspired by the Native American concept of ‘spirit animals’.
