Wow, it's our watercolour wall

04 Apr 2017

When homeowner and mum Jodie Squires saw the watercolour feature wall in the latest habitat magazine, she knew exactly where the paint effect would look good – in her 10-year-old son Harry's room. Covering up an old dark blue wall and getting rid of baby-ish digger and truck motifs, Jodie used virtually the same colours as stylist Greer Clayton in our feature (see below), but with quite a different effect. Where Greer’s is light and summery, Jodie has achieved a moody desert-sky look that goes with the darker elements in the room, and fits right in with Harry's love of old western movies. Just goes to show how versatile paint colour can be. And Harry's reaction? He loves it. He can play his guitar and be creative in a much cooler space.

Jodie originally thought about wallpaper but is glad she chose the watercolour wall idea. "It was so easy, and much cheaper than wallpaper. I think the whole paint thing only cost me around $80 and I only used half the testpots!"
