Paint it purple to support Epilepsy New Zealand
Resene is proud to support Epilepsy New Zealand with Paint It Purple, a fundraiser where Resene donates $1 from every 60ml purple testpot sold in March at Resene owned ColorShops (NZ) to Epilepsy NZ.
Why purple? Purple is the international colour, and lavender the flower, associated with epilepsy. One in 100 people suffer from epilepsy, with the most common symptom being recurring seizures. When properly diagnosed and treated 70% of New Zealanders with epilepsy will live healthy, normal lives and The Epilepsy Association of New Zealand provides them vital support.

Using purple in your home
Purple is not always at the top of the list when it comes to designing your home, but there are many ways to incorporate this hue into each space, both inside and out, in a stylish way. In light of this, we thought we would give you some ideas for painting it purple at home, while also supporting a good cause:
For the bold

Darker purples are great for creating a cosy, cocooning feel in spaces like media rooms and bedrooms, or adding a sophisticated, moody touch to entryways, sitting rooms and bathrooms. The secret to creating truly dynamic and designer-feeling spaceslies in the art of balancing light and dark shades equally. It can feel daring to dip into shades like moody blackened purple Resene Revolver or plum-hued Resene Mulled Wine. But balanced with lighter hues like Resene Astra the resulting look is incredibly modern and chic.
You’d be surprised what a bold addition of colour can do! Test it for yourself with shades like Resene Pukeko, Resene Violent Violet, Resene Paua and Resene Blackcurrant.
Purple pastels

Lilac shades like Resene In The Mauve and Resene Ghost are the sophisticated, grown-up shades of millennial pink – soothing, warm and effortlessly stylish. Their subtle grey or pink undertones make them an elegant alternative to neutrals, especially when layered in different intensities.
Perfect for well-lit spaces like cosy reading nooks, elegant bathrooms and sophisticated bedrooms, try hues like Resene Lola and Resene Siesta paired with a greige-tinged neutral like Resene Quarter Truffle for softness or a bright green like Resene Snowy Mint for a fresh twist.

Create a multi-functional outdoor space by painting your walls in neutrals and simply change out your accents when you’re ready for something new. If you’re after a feminine touch, try painting your plant pots in smoky lilac hues such as Resene Mamba or Resene Juniper. You can continue the theme by introducing colourful plants like lavender or rosemary for a delicate touch.
Try other gentle purples such as Resene Fog, Resene Poet, Resene Blue Chalk and Resene Sonique.
