Jenny was apprehensive at first to go for a bolder colour choice in the lounge, but says it’s now her favourite room. The walls are Resene Half Foundry, and its impact is all the more striking with Resene Quarter Black White on the ceiling and Resene Black White on the architraves, doors and skirtings. Accent pillows on the window seat tie in Resene Half Foundry.   

The open kitchen and dining space is light, inviting and airy with walls in Resene Half Black White, the ceiling and doors in Resene Quarter Black White and architraves and skirtings in Resene Lustacryl tinted to Resene Black White.

Matai wood flooring is one of Jenny’s favourite features in the family’s home. It’s complemented by Resene Half Black White on the walls, Resene Quarter Black White on the ceiling and Resene Lustacryl tinted to Resene Black White on the architraves, doors and skirtings. 

Light and airy is the theme in the master bedroom with subtle Resene Rakaia on the walls. Resene Quarter Black White keeps things equally as bright on the ceiling, as does Resene Black White on the trims. 

To go dark in the boys’ room was a no-brainer, Jenny says – white would have been marked far too fast. Resene Artemis emerged as the ideal shade, a muted and gentle slate blue-green. Resene Quarter Black White complements the tone on the ceiling teamed with Resene Black White on the trims. 

A floating shelf adds fun, function and dimension to the room in Resene Coast, a perfect resting spot for the boys’ Buzz Lightyear figurines. The walls are painted in Resene Artemis.

Jenny experimented with a warm Resene Pearl Blush in daughter Bel’s bedroom. “I wanted something soft and girly without being too in-your-face pink." Resene Pearl Blush pairs beautifully with a bold yellow cushion and deeper pink bedding. The ceiling is in Resene Quarter Black White and the trims are Resene Black White. 

Resene Rakaia sets a soothing tone for work in the family’s study. The cool grey is complemented by the bungalow's original stained glass windows. The door, skirting board and window trims are in Resene Lustacryl tinted to Resene Black White with the ceiling in a lighter tone of the same colour, Resene Quarter Black White, which accentuates the high ceiling.  

The family home has a slick street presence, thanks to a crisp monochrome colour scheme with weatherboards and concrete pillars painted in Resene Half Silver Chalice. The roof, gutters and downpipes are in Resene Gauntlet, the front door is in Resene Element and Resene Half White Black completes the look on window frames, sills, soffits and the rear pergola.
