Keyword research says these are the top trending kitchen colours homeowners are after

For many clients, kitchens are the place to unwind after a long day and cook up a delicious meal to share with family or friends – so it makes sense that the colour they opt for needs to promote feelings of contentment and warm-hearted happiness. Exactly which colour evokes that energy will differ from client to client; some may opt for a bright colour to bring their kitchen to life while others may be drawn to muted tones to create a clean and peaceful sanctuary. But when it comes to inspiration for what hue to choose, it’s unquestionable that the internet will be the first place they turn to for ideas.

Through their research, Uswitch.com has determined the top 10 most popular kitchen paint colours for 2021 according to online searches. First, their team compiled a list of 50 different kitchen colours from a range of sources, including Country Living, Forbes and House Beautiful. Next, they entered specific keyword phrases (e.g. “[colour] kitchen”) into SEMrush in order to find the average monthly global search volume for each kitchen colour, which were then ranked in order of popularity.

Based on their sources, the results likely skew towards American preferences than Australasian ones. But with so much of our time spent online now, we are often exposed to the similar influences regardless of our geographic location – so it’s data that’s still worth paying attention to. Here’s what they discovered:

Since their visual interpretations of these top ten trending hues likely aren’t true representations of the shades and tints homeowners are after, we’ve narrowed down five popular Resene colours that fall into each of these colour categories. So if your client is asking for a kitchen in one of these general colour families, try suggesting these hues to help narrow things down to more likely selections:
