What is your role at Resene and what does it involve?

My role as a Resene Colour Consultant consists of working alongside clients to help create their desired colour scheme for interior and exterior projects. I provide colour advice over the Bay of Plenty region to both residential and commercial property owners, as well as consulting with trades and designers. This could be in-store, on-site or via phone and email. Depending on the consult, I then provide a schedule of recommended colours, colour swatches and Resene’s recommended paint system for that project.

Tell us about one of your favourite projects using Resene.

One of my favourite projects using Resene would be the conversion of a container to create a kitchen at Oropi School in Tauranga for their Garden to Table programme. Resene paint was donated and used for the exterior of a 20ft container, which was converted into an outdoor kitchen for the kids. The painting was completed by a local artist and is very Kiwiana, which includes a beautiful Pōhutukawa tree on one of the doors.

What is you biggest design or product tip?

Test your colours with Resene testpots! Depending on the lighting in your space, colour will look different in different types of light. A testpot is an easy and affordable way to test different shades in multiple areas of your home to ensure you select the right colour for your project.

Can you recommend a couple of great Resene products for our readers?

Resene SpaceCote is a range of low sheen and flat water-based enamels, perfect for those heavy traffic areas! These products are hard wearing making them durable and cleanable.

What are your favourite Resene colours?

I love earthy greens which provide a calming, grounded and refreshing atmosphere, such as Resene Rainee, Resene Spanish Green, and Resene Haven.
