Pre-register now to take part in the Nohonga 2022 competition

25 Jan 2022

Brick Bay’s successful ‘Folly’ architectural competition has stimulated the imaginations of architecture students and graduates since 2015. But with the introduction of the inaugural Nohonga (seat) design challenge in 2020, attention was turned to landscape architects to give them a chance to make their mark on Auckland’s urban landscape and contribute to the generation of unique and exciting public spaces. For the 2020 competition, four finalists were chosen and after a three month period to build their designs, they were exhibited at Britomart and Brick Bay.

A collaboration between Brick Bay, Britomart and the Auckland Branch of the New Zealand Institute of Landscape Architects (NZILA) Tuia Pito Ora, the challenge invites students and all levels of graduated landscape architects to design and construct creative nohonga finished in Resene paints, stains and colours that can be experienced and enjoyed by the people of Tāmaki Makaurau.

Pre-registration is due by 28 February, with final submissions due by 28 April. For more information on how to enter, check out the competition guidelines and entry form on the Brick Bay website.
