Product of the month: MyArtisan Foundation Coat
14 Apr 2026
From the outset, Resene has built a reputation as a supplier of innovative products. This includes the ever-evolving range of textured finishes for both DIYers and professional painters, first introduced in the late 1950s, and which saw the release of the highly popular, Texturecote, in the 1970s.
Indeed, while not technically a textured finish, Resene’s first product, Stipplecote, had a subtle texture to it and was usually applied using the crow’s foot or cross-hatch technique.
The latest addition to this range of specialised coatings – MyArtisan Foundation Coat – has been developed to bridge the gap between professionally applied textures, plasters and renders, and their DIY counterparts.
MyArtisan Foundation Coat is highly versatile and is typically applied in two coats to create a plaster-like finish. Alternately, it can be further worked to create a cross-hatch appearance, and is an ideal base for colour wash, limed and other effects, including Resene’s FX Metallics and Faux Rust.
MyArtisan Foundation Coat is available in most Resene colours and allows the user the freedom to create truly unique and stunning finishes for interior and exterior walls – it is ideal for plasterboard, concrete and plastered surfaces.
