If you’re looking for something to jazz up your next project and take it to the next level, explore a range of shimmering colours with Resene’s innovative special effects collection of metallic and pearlescent finishes.
When it comes to transforming interior spaces from ordinary to extraordinary, few elements wield the power of colour, and as interior design trends continue to evolve, innovative paint products have become a creative cornerstone for designers and homeowners alike.
These metallic hues offer a captivating interplay of light and shadows, making them ideal for accent walls, decorative elements or even entire rooms to create an unforgettable visual impact. In rooms with less than perfect lighting, the metallic can help bounce more light around the room to help it feel less closed in.
Interior designer James Peters created a bronze glow on the walls of this apartment thanks to the Resene FX Metallic Spark applied over a basecoat of Resene Domino from Resene Multi-finish range. The colour creates a warm, modern feel and complementing the ceiling and skirting in Resene Eighth Ash.
The diverse palette of luminous colours, ranging from bold and striking to subtle and sophisticated can infuse any space with a touch of opulence, individuality and glamour. If your client isn’t sure what they want, perhaps it’s an enchanting allure of gold, a futuristic charm of silver or a rich depth of bronze.
Beyond the traditional metallic tones, you’ll also find some contemporary shades like iridescent blues, greens and coppers. These unique colours produce a mesmerising shimmer that shifts as light dances across the surface and are sure to make any project unique.
If it’s small touches you’re looking to add, try a wall mural or simple painted design like this fiery chain link. With the wall painted in a deep, rich blue of Resene Tangaroa, the painted links in Resene FX Metallic paint tinted to Resene Copper Fire pop off the wall with a shimmering 3D effect. The coffee table is stained in Resene Colorwood Tiri and floor in Resene Colorwood Greywash. Sofa from Republic Home, copper bottles from Freedom. While the metallic colours shine remarkably on their own, they also play well with others. You can experiment with blending metallic shades with Resene's wide array of standard paint colours, enabling them to achieve captivating custom hues that perfectly complement any interior scheme.
Resene FX Metallic finishes can be used outside too, reflecting the sun in the metallic flake for a delightful dancing light effect. Most commonly this is used to emphasise the structure of the building, such as the Kelburn Cable Car Terminus with the steel balustrade rails in Resene Blast Grey 1, steel fascia in Resene Blast Grey 2 and steel columns in Resene Blast Grey 3.
See the Resene FX Metallics and special effects chart for all the metallic colour options. It’s also a handy place to check the basecoat colour you will need for your chosen metallic topcoat.
If you’re after a touch of allure and brilliance, add a touch of Resene FX Metallics to your next project.
