10 Jun 2024

Join Resene Central Region Specifier Services Manager Craig Ell on Thursday 13th June 1-2pm (NZST) to discuss concrete carbonisation and coatings.

Craig has been with Resene for 17 years and works daily with architects, landscape architects, structural engineers, property owners/developers and large building contractors on a wide range of projects. Heritage buildings are of special interest to Craig having worked closely with numerous architects on over 100 projects and finding them very satisfying and challenging.

Having completed and passed the NACE Level 1 Coatings Inspector in 2012 Craig has won a number of Resene technical and achievement awards acknowledging his expertise.

Topics include:

  • What is concrete carbonation? How does it occur?
  • Concrete shrinkage and its potential consequences to the rate of carbonation.
  • Concrete spalling (role of ferric acid).
  • The role of coatings to slow or halt the carbonation process.
  • Standard acrylic coatings.
  • High build acrylic coatings.
  • Ultra-high build and elastomeric coatings.
  • Two pack acrylic urethanes – anti-graffiti coatings.
