Understanding Resene Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs)

14 Oct 2024

An Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) is a certified assessment that offers a detailed and transparent view of the environmental impact of a product, including its packaging, throughout its life cycle.

For professionals looking to meet sustainability targets, EPDs provide credible, independently verified data, ensuring you can trust the information.

EPDs document the environmental effects of a product during its production, use and eventual disposal or recycling. These impacts are measured across several key environmental indicators, such as:

  • Carbon emissions during manufacturing and usage
  • Waterway and air pollution
  • Resource depletion, such as water or raw materials

EPDs are developed according to international standards (ISO 14025 and EN 15804 for building materials), making them recognised and reliable across industries and governments.

Resene’s EPDs give you the confidence to specify paints and finishes that align with your eco-conscious design goals. With 12 Resene EPDs now available, you can find one for products used for staining timber to clear finishing to prep, priming and painting.
