Three’s The Block NZ: It’s living room time
Emotions have been high this week on Three’s The Block NZ as teams are starting to feel the exhaustion and fatigue set in. The days have been long, prompting some teams to think about their loved ones back at home. Nevertheless, the teams power through to build another day, and it’s living room week! Colour palettes including Resene Double Merino, Resene Half Sea Fog and Resene Quarter Foggy Grey impress the judges.
Mark announces that the winning team this week will have an additional $7,000 added to their budget. It’s a nail biting wait for scores for not only the teams, but for us too, as a cliff-hanger is left. Scores are looking tight, but we’ll have to wait for next week to find out the final scores and whose living room comes in top spot.
We take a closer look at the four living rooms this week:
Stacy & Adam’s living room
Stacy & Adam’ssoothing living space features Resene Double Merino on the back wall and Resene Quarter Bianca on the opposite wall, ceiling and trims.
Stacy & Adam’s living room is soft and inviting with the fleecy warm neutral Resene Double Merino on a feature wall and Resene Quarter Bianca on the opposite walls. The judges comment that the room feels cosy, with a great layout and mood. Jason comments it is a good conversation zone, the TV isn’t at the centre of the room which is great. He likes that the furniture is slightly mismatched. Judge Shelley says their Resene colour palette is light and calming, and feels the couple are amazing at neutrals. It looks expensive and sophisticated, she says.
Maree & James’ living room
Maree & James’ living room is painted in Resene Half Bianca on the walls and Resene Black White on the trims and ceiling.
Maree & James were hit with their lowest score yet last week. This week they knew they needed to push themselves. They set a light and soft tone in their living space with Resene Half Bianca on their walls. The judges liked the Scandi-vibe of the room, its family friendly aspects, extra storage space and the textures. The lighting is ambient, and the Resene colours feel inviting. Jason does add that the couple could be more adventurous with their colour use, as they risk being predictable.
Chloe & Ben’s living room
Chloe & Ben’s living room is stunning with Resene Half Sea Fog on the walls and Resene Quarter Pravda on the ceiling and trims.
Chloe & Ben pulled Resene Half Sea Fog across the whole living space this week, impressing the judges. Arguments over a fireplace resulted in a huge disagreement between Chloe & Ben, but it didn’t seem to impact their scores. The judges say once again the pair have nailed it, creating a beautiful atmosphere. Shelley said there was good evidence of continuity across rooms, and it feels modern with a nod to character details that softens the look. They love the window seat and their distinct style.
Quinn & Ben’s living room
Resene Quarter Foggy Grey is painted on the walls and Resene Black White on the ceiling and trims in Quinn & Ben’s living room.
Quinn & Ben’s Resene colour choices impressed the judges this week. Jason and Shelley agreed their use of Resene Quarter Foggy Grey across the room was restful and well selected, and the couple have come a long way in their design choices. The couple admitted they were aiming to save money this week. Jason isn’t a fan of their timber wall hiding a cupboard for storage, as it looked raw and unfinished. Shelley notes they could have looked at furniture placement better, but they are on the right track.
Top tip: If you like to wipe your ceilings to keep them clear of fly spots and the like, choose flat waterborne Resene SpaceCote Flat for your ceiling. It’s tough enough for all areas of your home so you can wipe it clean without burnishing it like normal ceiling paint. Opt for the fly deterrent version to help reduce the appearance of fly spots.
