A warm green welcome: DIY plant pots for your entryway
10 Jan 2024
Give your guests a warm welcome with this stacked welcome pot by your front door. This project requires three different size pots which are then stacked and filled with flowers. The design and colour palette can be chosen to match your front door or exterior colour or to create a pop of colour at the front of your home!
You will need:
- 1 x terracotta pot 33cm wide
- 1 x terracotta pot 23cm wide
- 1 x terracotta pot 16cm wide
- Pencil
- Resene testpot paintbrush
- Round foam brushes for spot design
- Resene Aquapel & Terracotta Sealer
- Resene testpots in paint colours of your choice. We used Resene Amulet, Resene Spring Rain, Resene Surf Crest and Resene Quarter Pearl Lusta.
- Soil, plants/flowers
Step 1: Give the pots a coat of Resene Aquapel & Terracotta Sealer.
Step 2: Paint your pots in your chosen Resene paint colours. We used Resene Amulet, Resene Spring Rain and Resene Surf Crest.
Step 3: Use your foam round brushes to do a spot paint design on the two smaller pots. We used Resene Quarter Pearl Lusta for our spots.
Step 4: On the large pot, write the word WELCOME in pencil, then paint over it using a fine paintbrush and your chosen Resene paint colour. We used Resene Quarter Pearl Lusta.
Step 5: Add soil to the pots and then stack the pots from largest to smallest. Then pop in your flowers or plants and find the perfect spot for your new plant stack by your front door.
Wall painted in Resene Black White and door in Resene Half Pearl Lusta.
