A warm welcome: Julia’s entranceway transformation
12 Feb 2025
Julia’s entranceway is a masterclass in balancing beauty with function. Wanting to contrast the greenery of her 1990s home without leaning too pink or overly feminine, she found inspiration in warm mushroom tones. After testing four Resene colours, Resene Rickshaw emerged as the perfect choice – subtly pink yet rich in warmth.
Natural materials and earthy tones pair well with the chalky brown of Resene Rickshaw.
To create an inviting, cocooning effect, Julia extended the paint to the ceiling and up the stairs, offering a contrast to the open-plan feel of the rest of her home. A mix of textures and tones – strong black and beige geometric materials alongside walnut wood – adds depth and sophistication.
The mix of Resene Rickshaw with charming décor and existing black and white elements create a timeless entrance in Julia’s home.
Sustainability was also key, with an upcycled wardrobe, a sanded-back side table from Trade Me and a custom-built bench seat forming the foundation of the space. With only the pendant light, mirror and handles purchased new, Julia has created a striking, thoughtful entranceway that feels as welcoming as it is stylish.
