Teach your kids the joys of colour and DIY with these three gorgeous projects by Kiwi Families’ Alayna Flighty, including quirky bird feeders and a rainbow-coloured driftwood mirror.
Drift away
Spring is just around the corner, and you know what that means – plenty of beach walks as the weather warms up. While you’re there, get the kids to gather driftwood and help them create this bright and colourful mirror.
You will need:
- Driftwood (assorted shapes and sizes)
- A small circle mirror
- Small paint brushes
- Resene testpots in Resene Scrumptious, Resene Bright Spark, Resene Niagara, Resene Go Go Go, Resene Quarter Moonbeam and Resene Tangerine
- Masking tape
- Araldite craft glue, or an equally strong resin adhesive
- Cotton bud, toothpick or anything that can make small dots
See all the step by step instructions here.
For the birds
Give birds a colourful place to grab a snack with these quick and easy-to-make bird feeders.
You will need:
- Cheap decking timber offcuts
- Assorted Resene testpot paint colours
- Small paint brushes
- A saw for cutting the timber
- Small timber nails, 1 large nail, an eye-hook screw and a hammer
- Good quality water-resistant timber glue
See all the step by step instructions here.
Kid’s kitchen
