Create a cute rock turtle for your garden
24 Jun 2021
Here’s a garden project worth shell-ebrating! Add some turtle power to your garden with these turtles made from garden rocks. Give power to the pebble and paint yourself a turtle in a range of Resene colours. Or you can get creative and create a whole ocean in your backyard by painting rocks into whales, dolphins and clownfish.
You will need:
- 6 stones
- Small craft brush
- Resene Quick Dry primer
- Your choice of Resene testpots – Fleur used Resene Green House, Resene Forest Green, Resene Black and Resene White
- Bamboo skewer
Step 1: Find 6 garden stones. These will form the shape of a turtle.
Step 2: Prime the stones with one coat of Resene Quick Dry primer.
Step 3: Once the primer is dry, paint over the stones with two coats of your choice of green, Fleur used Resene Green House, allowing the first coat to dry before applying the second coat.
Step 4: Use a darker green to paint polygon shapes on to the largest stone for the shell. Fleur used Resene Forest Green. Use the blunt end of a bamboo skewer to paint dots on to the flippers and head.
Step 5: Fleur used RResene Black and Resene White to paint the eyes.
Place this little guy in your garden or indoor flower pot for a cute addition to your home.
