Easy DIY: octagonal shelves

13 Jul 2017

Floating shelves are a modern and pretty way to decorate your walls without much fuss. For this project, stylist Nikki Astwood has gone with a romantic and tropical look, using wallpaper and testpots from Resene.

did you know…

Resene ColorShops have a service for selected wallpapers to enable you to buy them in smaller lengths ideal for smaller projects?  Available on a selected range of wallpapers – check with your Resene ColorShop for details.

You will need: octagonal boxes, testpots in Resene Sakura and Resene Dingley, paintbrush, Resene wallpaper sample, paper glue, scissors and masking tape. Also think about what you'll use to hang the shelves, such as screws or hooks.

Paint the outside of the boxes in Resene Sakura, and leave to dry. Tape up the sections for the green, and paint in Resene Dingley. Leave to dry.

Cut the wallpaper to size (Nikki used wallpaper from her local Resene ColorShop, code AT7071) and paste into the boxes. It's ready to display! Use it to keep books and other keepsakes looking pretty on your walls.
